COMMENTARY: The Secret is Out! Long term thinkers know what I’m talking about when I say that we live in this world knowing that one day inevitably, we’ll have to cross over. Some materialists go into denial and believe they’re going to live for a thousand years! And, there are people everywhere who are terrified of death. But there are others who look forward to it as "going home" after a hard term at school. Those who can work with this knowledge know that it is the spiritual aspect of any relationship that will linger on, that will have permanent value. Events and achievements and the places you visit while on earth, meeting kings, queens, presidents and prime ministers or other VIP’s in themselves are unimportant and irrelevant to your spiritual growth. There is more permanent benefit - spiritual value - in helping someone who needs help - irrespective of their rank than in having lunch with a movie star or with some VIP. Our life on planet earth is relatively very short and it is to our advantage to know what is really important. The difference will have a huge impact on where we find ourselves for a long, long time on crossing over.

HOW CAN YOU HELP A LOVED-ONE HAVE A SMOOTH TRANSITION TO THE AFTERLIFE? You want to help your loved one cross over to the realm of the Light? Of course we all do! It is NOT difficult at all! All they have to be is just reasonably decent and honest people BUT with an OPEN MIND. We get a lot of information that on crossing over there are many millions who do not know they are in fact physically DEAD! Silver Birch, an advanced intelligence from the afterlife tells us:

“You send millions (to the afterlife) who are unprepared, unfitted and ignorant. It is much more difficult to teach an adult the lessons he should have learnt at school … Do not blame us for the existence of millions of souls many of whom are unaware of the fact they are dead physically and almost spiritually …”

Those who are ignorant of the afterlife have no idea they are going to be fundamentally adversely affected – many, for thousands of yeas by earth’s time - by their ignorance of afterlife matters.

HOW CAN PEOPLE NOT KNOW THEY ARE DEAD? Normally people who die are met by their loved ones and taken to a place Spiritualists call the ‘Summerland’ – an afterlife dimension immensely better than anything we have on earth, where they have a short sleep as they shake off the last connections with the phsyical body and wake refreshed. However some people fall asleep and seem to get caught in the state of dream-like confusion on the astral world closest to earth. They know there has been a change but many are confused. This is because the realm adjacent to earth is virtually a ‘duplicate’ of physical earth. People have a solid body, have consciousness, have memories from the time they were on the earth plane. And until they "adjust" to the new vibration, their senses are tuned into life on this dimension and they continue to talk to people and wonder why they don't answer them and why they suddenly seem to be ignoring them. The picture, above left, shows a scene from the movie The Sixth Sense where the character played by Bruce Willis, not realising he is dead, thinks his marriage is over because his wife no longer talks to him. The only person who does talk to him is a little boy who can see spirits. Alan Kardek writes:
"The duration of the state of confusion that follows death varies greatly in different cases. It may be only of a few hours, and it may be of several months, or even years. Those with whom it lasts the least are they who, during the earthly life, have identified themselves most closely with their future state, because they are soonest able to understand their new situation." AMERICAN LEGEND JOHNNY CASH'S OWN NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE: Those of you who have an ear for emotion in music would not be surprised to learn that American country singer Johnny Cash had several personal spiritual experiences.
* In 1944 when Johnny was 12 his brother Jack (aged 14) was seriously hurt and a week later died after a tragic accident. On his deathbed, Jack said he had visions of heaven and angels.
* Johnny wrote that he had seen his brother many times in his dreams, and that Jack always looked two years older than whatever age Cash himself was at that moment.
* In 1968 he had a spiritual experience in the Nickajack that caused him to stop his habit of drug abuse. He had entered the cave high on drugs and alcohol, with the intent of committing suicide.
* In 1988 when he had a heart by-pass, he reported he saw ‘heaven’ and was angry about having to come back- something he said that completely changed his life. After this Johnny became more spiritual and made more gospel albums. He died in 2003 at the age of 71 years and is buried in Tennessee.

“I’M TERRIFIED OF DYING. PLEASE HELP ME!” was the agonizing plea from someone who wrote saying he knew nothing about the afterlife. There are many who are terrified of death. Advice to them? Very simple. Read, read, read about the afterlife. and listen to and watch videos of people who have had near-death experiences. First I suggest to read chapter 29 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE. Then patiently, slowly and steadily, read some twenty two areas of evidence for the existence of the afterlife. Investigate as much as you can about the afterlife – guaranteed, you will have a smooth transition. Below are some resources that make a great start.

According to Dr Peter Fenwick, author of The Art of Dying- the dying receive visitations from deceased loved ones within the last two weeks of life. This experience is common among those who believe in afterlife experiences and those who do not, he said. As evidence, Fenwick shared an anecdote about a non-believing mother who received a visitation from her dead husband. Deathbed visions appear to be part of the death process itself, he explained. Fenwick also talked about how culture may influence the form of the person seen by those near death, noting that 25% of people in his UK study had their mothers or fathers come to 'collect' them.
This is an absolutely fascinating interview- highly recommended.

"THE ART OF DYING"
The book by Drs Peter and Elizabeth Fenwick contains stories about deathbed visions and near death experiences. One of the strongest parts of the book is the practical suggestions for those dying
1. Forgive others and seek their forgiveness; heal broken relationships, however late in the day
2. Search out old friends with whom you have lost touch
3. Value life without clinging to it, and live each day as if it were your last
4. Die where you would most like to - whether at home or in a hospice; alone or surrounded by family
5. Trust your instincts; patients know when their end is near

DR ELISABETH KUBLER ROSS- ON DEATH
Dr Elisabeth Kubler-Ross sat with literally hundreds of dying people and inspired the development of the hospice movement. In 2008 just before her own transition, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross recorded the short video below about making the transition and the two things you will be asked. Our readers seem to be divided about Halloween- the following are representative.

Patty wrote: "I love Halloween but then I don't think of it a celebration of the dead. Rather I think of it as the changing of the seasons, the cycles of life. And the celebration of harvesting fruits and vegetables of a season's hard work. Also I think it's fun to watch the children dress up and trick or treat. The whole zombie, ghost costumes are just silly ways in which people have tried to cope with the unknown. As we become more sophisticated and more people realize death is just rebirth to a higher better life, stigma attached with certain rituals will be cast off and people will be able to enjoy life more fully and see and enjoy the changing of our own bodies and spirits."

Carolyn wrote:

" When I was little I enjoyed Halloween; but just as I detest the media's exploitation that spirit is grotesque, mean, nasty and demonic,scary. I also think that children being raised to believe that they should dress up as skeletons, vampires, ghost in sheets, and zombie's etc is also very disrespectful to the soul/spirits that we all at one time loved and lost.

I am also sick of the ghost hunters scaring people into being afraid of spirits. I would love to see the day when people actually accepted and awaited the day their loved ones came to see them in spirit. Maybe instead our children should dress like shaman, spirit guides, bright lights, swirling orbs. It would be much more positive. "

Herman wrote that the positive aspects of Halloween should be emphasized, NOT the scary elements.!

Perhaps like everything else Halloween is evolving...whatever your views we wish all who are celebrating a safe and happy holiday.

CAPITAL PUNISHMENT: TERRORISTS TO BE EXECUTED THIS WEEKEND? For Australians the first Bali bombings had a terrible impact. 202 people were killed 88 of them Australian. This weekend three of the ringleaders (pictured) of that bombing will be executed. The three bombers last month threatened that their deaths would be avenged. Whilst I personally would let them to rot in jail doing hard labor every day until they die, there are those screaming for their deaths as revenge: an eye for an eye. But information transmitted from the afterlife tells us that those terrorists and criminals who cross-over after the executions are likely to be of enormous trouble in the afterlife where they can hang around on the astral level and influence others who are of like mind.

At one extreme, they are seen as heroic martyrs in the service of God who should be richly rewarded.
