Christmas,
Chanukah and other holy day Greetings: Wendy and I are
spending the holidays in the USA and are not in a position
to answer emails just yet. Sending you greetings from
Portland Oregon (see picture below- from outside our
apartment).
COMMENTARY:
Christmas- the loneliest time of the year? One
of the things that comes to me at this time of the year
is the irony of Christmas. For many people it is
the season of much goodwill. Many of us receive presents,
have holidays and travel, even tasting some lovely sumptuous
food and meeting up with friends to celebrate the joys
of family and fellowship. However there are countless
people in the big cities of the world who do not have
any of these things I mentioned – some do not
even have a home to go to. For the mentally ill, the
lonely and for the bereaved who are missing the physical
presence of their loved ones, Christmas is the loneliest
time of the year – a time to be endured and "got
through". They feel the physical cold and the spiritual
pain of loneliness and of alienation from the world.
They feel unloved and despair creeps in more deeply
than at any other time of the year. It was good to see
the Australian Government this week making a commitment
to end street homelessness- surely this should be
a priority for every civilized nation. But all of us
have a special opportunity at this time of year to reach
out to others- not only to the physically poor but also
the 'poor in spirit'- to make a special effort to bring
some comfort, some light, peace and love into another's
dark world.
THE BIGGER PICTURE Whatever
our situation at this time of year and at all times
we all have cause to celebrate. Why? Because we have
knowledge about the certainty of the afterlife. We know
that we are going to be met by our loved ones on crossing
over, that we are going to a place ever so much better
than this life – where we do not have to work
for a living, we do not have to sleep, or eat or drink
or maintain our homes. A place where there is no cleaning,
no painting or washing or ironing or anything else but
where we still have the potential to continue to spiritually
evolve. We are on the winning side because we know what
is going to happen to us on crossing over.
DIRECTLY FROM THE AFTERLIFE:

and you will not realize until then what it is to
live or to feel the real glory of life untrammeled,
free to rejoice in liberty of spirit which your imprisoned
souls cannot understand to-day … all the experiences

you cannot realize that at the time. It is only when

that they are beyond many of your intellectuals!"

OVERCOMING THE
FEAR OF DEATH. It is just stunning the
number of people who fear death. On the face of it,
it is understandable that one tends to fear the sharp
transition
from the physical to the non-physical. In our death-denying/
death-hiding society some people are shocked when they
see a lifeless body for the first time. For those who
have not done any reading about the afterlife or have
not done any spiritual exploration, death can presents
a formidable fear. Some people are actually terrified
by it. What I strongly recommend to remove the fear
of death altogether is to read each day, even for a
short time, books about the afterlife. Critical, relevant
information will give you confidence to experience what
ought to be, ironically, the greatest, happiest moment

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, MD, world-famous authority on
death and dying, and Charles Tart, PhD, renowned researcher

THE OMEGA PROJECT: Kenneth Ring
in his book The Omega Project tells of his
surprise discovery that people who became

ATHEIST PROFESSOR SEES THE LIGHT
Before his near-death experience, Rev. Howard Storm,
a Professor of Art at Northern Kentucky University,
was not a very pleasant man. He was an avowed atheist
and was hostile to every form of religion and those
who practiced it. He often would use rage to control
everyone around him and he didn't find joy in anything.
