COMMENTARY: A TRIBUTE TO KARYN JARVIE
For more than seven years Karyn Jarvie played an enormous role behind the scenes in the Friday Afterlife Report, our Facebook groups, and the Afterlife Zoom Groups. A highly qualified and experienced medical social worker
by profession, she was diagnosed with life-limiting health problems soon after the tragic death of her only child, Emma, at age 15 on December 29, 2012. (See Nancy Freier's interview with Karyn on page 10 of the May Inner Voice Magazine).
Desperate to connect with her daughter Emma, Karyn spent the following twelve years researching the afterlife and helping mediums and other researchers and seekers. She was the co-founder of our Afterlife Zoom Groups program and co-hosted the Sunday Global Gatherings. She also transcribed tapes for the Leslie Flint Foundation, ran a support group for bereaved parents, taught people how to record EVPs, supported people to start Zoom groups, shared the Friday Report on Facebook, edited videos from our meetings, and personally helped and supported hundreds of people from all over the world.
Knowing that her life was coming to a close, she left strict instructions that there be no funeral and no notifications to anyone of her passing. However, within 7 hours of her transition, she was communicating through several of the mediums and researchers whom she had come to love. She told Louise Hermann "It's all real" and Regina Ochoa
that she went straight to Emma who was waiting for her, and then to a welcome-home reception. She spoke at length to Gordon Phinn and showed herself to medium Joe Higgins. The following Sunday she spoke through Jeannie Love in the Global Gathering.

WE SALUTE HIGHLY GIFTED TRANCE MEDIUM BERTHA HARRIS The majority of traditional trance mediums brought through only one, or a small number of, regular communicators, rather than friends, relatives, and people who want to contact the the sitter. Bertha Harris was an exception. During the decades after WWII, Harris emerged as one of the most prominent London mediums. In private sittings, she usually went into a trance and was taken over by the communicating spirit. One sitter wrote: "A dead man, my father, had returned, and was talking to me as intimately as in life. Full names, incidents, intimate things only applicable to the one communicating, sometimes predictions, come in a quick flow which starts almost as soon as the sitter comes into her presence, and her gift has given evidence of survival to thousands." THE IONS CHANNELLING RESEARCH PROGRAM Helané Wahbeh, ND, MCR, is the Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. She spent her childhood in a family that channeled, where she learned about the possibility of an afterlife at a young age. She is the author of "The Science of Channeling" and is leading a formal research program into it. The program takes a wide definition of channeling and points out that case studies and experimental evidence have shown that some of the information obtained through channeling is verifiable, useful, and not accessible through normal means. JAMIE BUTLER, A MEDIUM AND CHANNELER
In 2017 Kevin Moore decided that he would interview channelers in different countries. He aimed to include established channelers like Daryll Anka, Geoffrey Hoppe and Paul Selig as well as "new channelers who are doing fantastic work". His goal is to expand the definition of channeling to include artists, writers, and intuitives. You can see range in the "Select an Episode" list from They Call us Channellers.

SHINING MORE LIGHT ON SPIRITUALLY TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCES Canadian medical doctor Dr. Yvonne Kason M.D. coined the term "Spiritually Transformative Experiences" or STEs. As well as NDEs, these include out-of-body experiences, visions, spiritual emergencies, awakenings, kundalini, enlightenment, exceptional human experiences, pre-birth memories, past-life experiences, nearing-death awareness, after-death communications, empathic or shared near-death experiences, peak experiences, etc. Read more.
Many studies now suggest that these experiences are so common as to be considered normal; according to several researchers, up to 40% of people have them at some time in their life. Dr. Kason claims to have collected nearly a thousand cases from people whom she counseled as a doctor and psychotherapist. She details many of these in A Farther Shore (1994) and Farther Shores (2000, 2008), Touched by the Light: Exploring Spiritually Transformative Experiences (2019), and her most recent book Soul Lessons from the Light Celebration- Miracles Happen! (2023).
DEATH DOULA'S SHARED-DEATH EXPERIENCES
Helen Gretchen Jones is a death doula, intuitive, and channeler who writes about shared death experiences and the essence of spiritual consciousness. Her book, Healing Whispers From Spirit Guides, focuses on fostering loving connections with oneself and others.
SPIRITUAL TEACHER RAM DAS Ram Dass (born Richard Alpert) was an American spiritual teacher and author. He is known to millions as the stellar young 1960s Harvard psychologist-turned-hippie who experimented with LSD with Timothy Leary and then found his guru in India. His book Be Here Now, published in 1971, sold two million copies and brought Indian mysticism to generations in the West.
His spiritual teacher, Neem Karoli Baba (known as “Maharaj-Ji”), gave him the name "Ram Dass," meaning "Servant of God," and taught him to "love other people and serve them. That is all.” Ram Dass helped the dying, the blind, and the imprisoned, and considered service as essential as meditation or prayer. "We are all manifestations of the same greater Self; we are meant to enjoy our roles here on Earth, and our dying is simply a point of transit". DID ROSEMARIE BROWN CHANNEL MUSIC OF THE GREAT COMPOSERS?
Mrs Rosemary Brown, a London housewife and spiritualist, claimed to be receiving new music from famous composers of the past, among them Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin and Schubert. Though not a trained musician herself, Mrs Brown puzzled musical experts, thanks to her detailed manuscripts and credible-sounding compositions.
IS AUTOMATIC WRITING A FORM OF CHANNELING? William Stainton Moses (1839–92) was an Anglican clergyman who was also a physical medium (read more). On March 30, 1873, spirit messages started coming through Moses’ hand through “automatic writing.” This method was adopted, Moses was informed, for convenience purposes and so that he could preserve a connected body of teaching. Those teachings, by spirits who later revealed themselves to be major figures from the Bible, were compiled into two books. Spirit Teachings was published by Moses in 1883, and More Spirit Teachings was collected and published after he died in 1892. Both books are regarded as Spiritualism's greatest classics containing the religious, philosophical, and ethical implications of Spiritualism, as viewed by the spirit world. Stainton Moses wrote that sometimes when he was receiving "automatic writing" he would find himself outside his body:
"standing in spirit near to my body, which was seated holding the pen before the table on which this book was placed. I looked at it and the arrangements of the room with great interest. I saw that my body was there and that I was joined to it by a thin line of light. Everything material in the room looked shadowy, and everything spiritual seemed solid and real." He claimed that in this state he could see the spirits influencing his writing and that the pen moved "by directing on to the pen a ray which looked like blue light."

Spirit Search and Rescue with Gordon Phinn
The Spirit Search and Rescue group is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. Eastern US time (8 p.m. London time).
Gordon is teaching the technique of conscious meditation to connect and assist souls needing help to complete their crossing over following death of the physical body. Each session contains an introduction, a period of around 15 minutes for conscious meditation (during which Gordon joins each group member in turn to observe their work) and then a de-brief session.
