COMMENTARY: HOW NOT TO INVESTIGATE IMMORTALITY
In 2012 A Christian organization, the John
Templeton Foundation, reportedly gave a grant of 5 million
dollars to fund a 3-year "Immortality Project" at the University
of California, Riverside. The
aim of the Templeton Foundation is "to advance our
understanding of the Big Questions: Do we inhabit a multiverse?
Do we have free will? Is evolution directional? Are we
immortal? Was the universe created? What is love?"
The papers produced by the researchers seem to confirm
my concerns about placing the project with an academic department that focused on Philosophy. Instead
of investigating what does happen when you die,
the project seems to have focused on "The Possibility
and Desirability of Various Forms of Immortality"
and what various religions believe about the afterlife.
The people running the project seem to have had no background
in afterlife research, and for evidence, they seem to have
had a cursory look at near-death experiences and Buddhist
monks.
Sadly, unless academics have had a personal experience of
an afterlife connection, they seem to be caught in a lot
of useless conjecture. It's like they are arguing over
where to park the cars in the parking lot at the beach,
while the experiencers are in the ocean surfing the waves.
DR. RAJ PARTI
TALKS ABOUT HIS LIFE-CHANGING NDE Raj Parti, M.D. had
a powerful NDE which changed his life path and led him
to become a healer and wellness speaker. He was speaking
at an afterlife conference at Santa Monica in 2013 that included
scientists, doctors, and physiotherapists.
CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND ACHIEVEMENTS
OF DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR, STANLEY KRIPPNER
Our
guest on last Sunday's Zoom Global Gathering is a remarkable
academic and human being. Dr. Stanley Krippner has been
a Professor of Psychology (a notoriously skeptical field)
for nearly 50 years. As well as achieving high recognition
by the American Psychological Society, he was not afraid
to research controversial areas like dreams,
hypnosis, shamanism, and dissociation, often from a cross-cultural
perspective. These were areas that could have been "career-suicide"
for others. He has authored, co-authored, and edited more
than 1200 academic books and papers. He has also worked closely with indigenous communities in the United
States and Brazil, and in many practical areas
for the betterment of humanity. He maintains
a vigorous schedule, traveling and presenting, and,
in the last six years has co-authored or co-edited five wonderful
books. Read
more.
A CASE THAT THE SKEPTICS CAN'T
EXPLAIN
Dr. Krippner
shared a case which, he feels, provides valuable evidence
for "the survival hypothesis" (a term which parapsychologists
use but which Dr. Krippner's Native American friends
find ridiculous since their whole culture revolves
around the existence of the afterlife.) The case involves
a woman who had a series of 12 dreams containing names
and facts that had meaning for her colleague, a young
Native American army assistant chaplain. All of them
related to soldiers he knew who had died, and who may have returned
to give a message of survival to the young man. Dr.
Krippner has presented the case with details at several
conferences, and it has been written up in full in the
SPR Journal. You
can read a copy of the full report here.
HOW SCIENCE EXPLAINS SPIRITUALITY
Rupert Sheldrake shows that science is now investigating
and validating practices which form part of many religions. In
Science
and Spiritual Practices (2018), he looked at meditation,
gratitude, connecting with nature, relating to plants,
rituals, singing and chanting, pilgrimage, and holy places.
In his second book on the same theme, Ways
to Go Beyond and Why They Work (2019), he looked
at the spiritual side of sports, learning from animals,
fasting, cannabis, psychedelics, and spiritual openings,
powers of prayer, holy days and festivals, cultivating
good habits, avoiding bad habits, and being kind. These
two books are for anyone who suspects that, in the drive
towards radical secularism, something valuable has been
left behind.
PROGRESS REPORT FROM JURGEN
ZIEWE
Last week we featured
a video of Jurgen
Ziewe explaining his exciting new project to make
virtual reality videos of different locations in the
afterlife that he has visited during his 40+ years of
out-of-body experiences. We are happy to report the
following: "At 10am, the postman delivered the Oculus
Quest. Again thanks to the incredible support I have
received. I had already given up on the idea of getting
into VR again on my pension. Anybody who supported me
another big Thank You. This is the essential item needed
to get the ball rolling again."
Read more about Jurgen's ongoing progress. We have
assured Jurgen that he has a whole team of admirers behind
him. If you are in a position to help support this project,

THE BLIND CAN SEE DURING NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES In
their book Mindsight,
Dr. Kenneth Ring and Sharon Cooper report on in-depth
interviews with 31 people who were fully or partially
blind and had a near-death experience where they could
see. One of their subjects was Vicki Noratuk, who had
been blind from birth when she was involved in a car
accident. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross also interviewed blind
patients who were able to see perfectly while "dead” and
out-of-body (Kübler-Ross 2005).
Also he has created The
Survival Top 40, an online resource which gives summaries of the best cases rated on
an evidential credibility scale - 20 cases on Spirit-Contact
and 20 cases on Reincarnation. Sandra
Champlain interviews Miles.

ALAN CLEAVER'S REPORT: THE RETURN
OF HELEN DUNCAN Last week
we brought you the story of the wonderful physical medium,
Rita Goold (later known as Rita Lorraine), who
reunited Russell with his Mum and Dad. We didn't
mention that one of the spirit team was the famous
physical medium, Helen Duncan. She had died as a result
of a police raid on a seance she was conducting, when
the ectoplasm was exposed to light. Alan Cleaver, then
assistant editor of Psychic News, attended a seance when
Helen Duncan's daughter, Gena Brealey,
visited the circle to check whether it was really her
mother communicating. Read
the fascinating report by Alan Cleaver.
AN APPORT CONVINCES A GRIEVING HUSBAND Mr.
Don Borwhat was the skeptical husband of one of Annette
Child's dear friends, Margaret, who died in 2006. For
years Don had sarcastically referred to Annette as the
'Godwoman' due to the skeptical eye he cast toward what
he called the `foo-foo' philosophies that she shared with
his dying wife. After Margaret's death, Don's world was
turned upside down by an extraordinary `foo-foo' event,
the type he had spent his entire adult life scorning.
THE NIFTY FIFTY Professor
Stafford Betty is a Professor of Religious Studies, so it
is significant when he says that the picture of the afterlife that has emerged through the work of mediums and direct spirit communication over the last 160 years gives a rough idea of what lies ahead,: "one that is far more plausible,
and backed by better evidence, than anything provided
by the world's various scriptures and theologies."
He has arranged them into a neat fifty points which he calls his "nifty fifty".
Read
fifty things the evidence supports about the aftertlife.
Most of these are
covered in the conclusion of his book The Afterlife
Unveiled.

HOW TO REPROGRAM YOUR MIND WITH BRUCE
LIPTON The message of
this 15-minute video is the power of the positive -
that if we spend time each day thinking and planning
and creating the things that we all want more of, we
will create heaven on earth. Take your power back. A
great reminder.

FOCUS ON THE VISION "We
are, like John the Baptist, preparing the way for the
world that is to be, where peace, harmony, love, compassion,
co-operation and concord reign, where violence is forgotten
and all strive to serve and help one another, and transform
the earth into the kingdom of heaven that it can and
will be." Light from Silver Birch p.103
1) The story of Russell is phenomenal.
I cried along the away through some of those pages.
I love these spectacular and specific details he described.
It really helps me a lot in my learning. I recently
read The
Blue Island by W. T. Stead, one of the passengers
who died on the Titanic. This automatic writing is also
a great account of what happened in the final moment
of our last breaths and what happened next. Life
really goes on! I feel really humbled reading these
stories. Thank you for sharing the wonderful work and information.
I am very grateful to your dedication. Montika.
2) Dear Victor & Wendy, Thank you very much for
publishing all about Vera Lynn. I am age 83 and was
age 6-9 during WWII ("Step on a crack/Break Hitler's
back!") and my memories and attending emotions
are vivid! No other period of time like it! And Vera
Lynn's major songs are forever embedded in my mind and
memory! Just the memory of the mere powerful line -
we'll meet again - brought tears to my eyes. I still
find her songs very moving! She no doubt was born
to her mission! A true healing force for Good and God!
Your constant appreciative reader, Richard.
3) "Victor, each one of your Friday
reports is full of interesting, knowledgeable, and educational
reading but now and again, for me, one stands out, and
this one in particular. As every topic and person is
so absorbing and full of valuable material that each
one could be a Friday report in itself. Thank you."
David.
HIGHLY INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC: TRUE COLOURS
Sung by the incomparable Eva Cassidy, this song reminds
us that, in the middle astral realms, you can tell the
character of a person by the colours of their aura -
our true colours.
