COMMENTARY:
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH THE ASHES?
Last week the Vatican issued a directive that Catholics
"may be cremated but should not have their ashes
scattered at sea or kept in urns at home ... cremated
remains should be kept in a 'sacred place' such as a church
cemetery. Ashes should not be divided up between family
members, 'nor may they be preserved in mementos, pieces
of jewelry or other objects.'
The
thinking
behind the directive is that the practice often involves
"erroneous ideas about death". Specifically
1) the belief that death is the definitive end of life
and 2) the notion that our bodies fuse with nature or
enter another cycle of rebirth and 3) that the deceased's
body is sacred and deserves respect from relatives and
descendants and 4) that 'the resurrection of the body'
is still a fundamental Catholic teaching.
I have pointed out many times that highly credible information
directly from the afterlife - which we cannot ignore -
tells us there is no "resurrection of the body".
That itself is an "erroneous idea" about the
process of death. We now know that at the very moment
of death the etheric or astral body comes out of the physical
body. This body looks and feels like a physical body to
its occupant, to the extent that many don't realise they
are dead.
Those in the afterlife tell us that it is not good for
the deceased to be too focused on their earthly remains.
They also do not want us to go to the cemetery to grieve
or to focus on their ashes. Converting
them into a diamond sounds a bit disrespectful and
so, to this end, scattering of the ashes in a respectful
way may actually be beneficial. Read
